Neutral Description

I am a Graduate in Political Science, Law graduate from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, and have done Masters in Law from University of Cambridge. I am a British Chevening Scholar and Inner Temple Pegasus Scholar. I am skilled in dispute resolution having practiced across the hierarchy of courts (in Kolkata and Delhi) since 2013. I am also an Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India. I follow a first principles approach to law, justice, and problem solving. I strongly believe in resolving disputes through ADR and non-adversarial modes and going for litigation only as a last resort. I always try to advocate mediation and out-of-court settlements to my clients and have successfully facilitated mediations to their satisfaction. In 2014, I had also collaborated with the West Bengal Legal Services Authority (WBLSA) to conduct pre-litigation Lok Adalat for settlement of billing disputes between a leading telecom provider and its consumers (approx. 500 nos.) which resulted in a high rate of resolution/ settlement. ADR, particularly mediation/ conciliation, offers a huge saving in terms of time, energy and cost as compared to litigation. A hidden advantage is saving oneself the emotional cost of litigation and preserving the relationship between the parties in conflict. Having first hand experienced the rigidity, formalism and extreme aggression of the litigation system for 8+ years both as a lawyer as well as a litigant, it is my personal endeavour and mission to help in reduction of conflict among people and in society using non-adversarial and collaborative methods. Nothing brings me more satisfaction than using my knowledge and skills in helping people reduce their conflicts. To this end, I am in the process of becoming a full-time Mediator and hope to one day become the go-to person for conflict mitigation and resolution.
